Notes and Editorial Reviews
The Lifestyles series aims to enrich the time spent on mundane tasks by providing music that will create a pleasant atmosphere. Each disc features well-chosen selections, all beautifully performed and recorded, that will enhance and improve any activity or regular routine.
Reading and listening to music are usually thought of as exclusive activities, but the right music can provide an appropriate backdrop for literary enjoyment and will even enhance the experience. And while great literature certainly stands on its own, music can wash away the everyday troubles and tensions, provide a mood of calm and tranquility, and clear the mind. The works in this collection accomplish this, but music such as Elgar's 'Sospiri,' the Kyrie from
Bruckner's Mass, and the Adagietto from Mahler's Fifth Symphony is much more than background. These along with the other pieces included are masterworks that deserve undivided attention. Read less
