Consummate Artist! October 10, 2013 By Martha A. See All My Reviews "Lately I have been so disappointed in the limited capacities of so many of the tenors performing in opera. Years ago, at roughly the same time the SHOWBOAT album came out, I saw JH perform in Lucia di Lammermoor. It was really a transforming experience; he brought a creaky production memorably to life with not only a gorgeous voice, but looks, passionate delivery, and real acting ability. His death scene is indelibly imprinted on my memory. Meanwhile, my daughter and I were immensely enjoying the SHOWBOAT tape on our way to her music lessons. Now, I fear this wonderfully versatile artist will be largely forgotten and I for one am buying every recording I can find to remind me just how special a talent he was. Thank you for having this delightful CD." Report Abuse
