Early Schwarzkopf recordings September 25, 2012 By Bruce D. (Santa Fe, NM) See All My Reviews "Most of these recordings are interesting because they seem more spontaneous and fresh than her later recordings. Her artistry had not yet been shaped so much by Walter Legge to be "perfect" for perfection's sake and therefore sometimes lifeless. The Pamina selections are interesting to hear once only, as is the "Ah, fors e lui" without a "sempre libera". These must have been released simply to fill out the disc and create some income in her retirement." Report Abuse
