A ''Hot'' Brahms First June 28, 2015 By owen  ryan (lakewood, CA) See All My Reviews "Compared to Szell's recording this may not be a politically correct performance but to my untutored and possibly barbaric taste it's an exciting performance. Perhaps this is due to Klemens' Czech heritage or his background in cinema which accounts for this dramatic performance...this is Brahms with all the stops pulled out! The Slovak Philharmonia Cassovia may not have the polish and precision of the big name orchestras but they make up for it in the enthusiasm with which they play. The horn and timpani of this ensemble account for much of their verve. Too bad that this is out of production by Naxos, hopefully they will reissue it. It can be found on the after-market cheap."
