Camerata Roman is one of Sweden's leading chamber orchestras and has a distinctive profile, performing as a camerata - an orchestra without a conductor. Artistic unity is achieved through the musical sensitivity and deeply felt musical expression of its members. Camerata Roman celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1999. It tours extensively throughout Sweden and represents its country in tours abroad. Its leader, Terje Tonnesen, was born in Oslo in 1955. He founded the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and is currently its music director. He is also the concertmaster of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
