Notes and Editorial Reviews

Imagine The 5 Browns hosting a festive, dressy dinner party where classical piano music is the focus of the night. Snow falls and sleigh bells ring through the stories told through melody. You’re invited to spend an evening of sparkling lights through pine boughs while listening and reminiscing on Christmas music written through the ages. “One can only celebrate the unabashed joy and love of music heard and seen in the performances of The 5 Browns.” (The Sarasota Herald-Tribune) The 5 Browns are delivering on their dream to wake up classical music by introducing it to the widest, largest and most excited audience they can find. Whether performing individually or together in various combinations from duo to complex five-piano arrangements, Read more The 5 Browns reveal a deep connection to the intent of their material while bringing a fresh energy and dynamic character to the color and tonal spectrum of their sound. The 5 Browns – Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae – all attended New York’s Juilliard School. In fact, they became the first family of five siblings ever accepted simultaneously. The quintet enjoyed their first wave of critical attention in February 2002 when People magazine dubbed them the “Fab Five” at about the same time they were featured on Oprah and 60 Minutes.  Wonderful Christmas Piano December 11, 2019 By Robert Petrus (Montclair, NJ) See All My Reviews "The 5 Browns are wonderful. The playing of their terrific arrangements is always a joy, whether on recording (as here) or live at such places as Carnegie Hall (where I heard/saw them). Why 4 stars and not 5? The recording is a mere 52 minutes long, the first 11 minutes devoted to The Nutcracker, which I am unbelievably tired of. Several of the wonders to listen to, however, are "Still, Still, Still", "O Holy Night", and, especially, an absolutely superb and delightful arrangement of Victor Hely-Hutchinson's "A Carol Symphony": five minutes of wondrous Christmas tradition from all 5 Browns."
