David Maslanka’s wind band music has been amongst the most popular and most oft performed works in the genre. The excitement, energy and emotion his compositions elicit from audiences as well as musicians is unparalleled. The works on this album are excellent examples of how his compositions are able to draw our emotions in all directions. His humor is displayed throughout “The Seeker.” His love, longing and heartache for his wife, Allison (who passed 35 days before David) is displayed in Movement One of Symphony No. 10. His admiration, love, and respect for his son, Matthew, shines in Movement Two.
