Notes and Editorial Reviews

Christmas with the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks! Under the direction of Florian Helgath, the chorus sings German holiday classics along with selections from France, Italy and Great Britain. Music between the carols is provided by oboist François Leleux, who enriches the release with restful instrumental intermezzi and virtuosic touches. A close alignment with Christmas and the music of the season makes for a truly wonderful Christmas holiday. The Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks was founded in 1946. Its artistic advancement has run in close parallel with the growth of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and, since 2003, Mariss Jansons has served as the Chief Conductor of both ensembles, supplemented by Peter Dijkstra, Read more who was appointed Artistic Director of the chorus in 2005. The group’s stylistic versatility covers every area of choral singing from medieval motets all the way to contemporary works. Read less

Traditional Christmas Splendor December 21, 2017 By Emma Hanley (Salt Lake City, UT) See All My Reviews "I have been looking for a CD just like that: peaceful Christmas Carols from Europe which reminded me of my youth. Love it! Also the quiet oboe solos in between . Perfectly put together and wonderfully sung. The perfect Christmas music for everyone who is looking for some peace this time of the year, thank you!"
