Notes and Editorial Reviews

Both Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Arnold Kasar are musicians with illustrious careers built in past decades, but they approach music differently: Kasar is a classically trained pianist, Roedelius never learned to read music. Though their approaches are divergent, these artists developed a steady flow of collaborative creativity that resulted in thirty pieces in three days, Einfluss. Meaning “One Flow” in English, Einfluss is an album of delicate piano themes and atmospheric electronic sounds.  Only for atmosphere July 11, 2017 By Manuel Pagan (Richmond, TX) See All My Reviews "Why is this crossover? Because its on DG? Ambient music from Kasar and Roedelius, who has previously collaborated with Brian Eno and was half of the German duo Cluster. It is is simple electronic melodies surrounded by soothing and at times, eerie ambient sounds presumably imitating natural environments. As ambient music to accompany reading or working it is very soothing, but if your are interested in listening to the music itself you may be bored at the sameness of it. I find Roedelius's work with Cluster and his collaborations with Eno to be much more interesting with elements of world music rhythms and German industrial music thrown into the mix. If you like this album you will love his earlier work." Report Abuse
