Much more than a greatest hits collection, BRAVO DOMINGO is truly a portrait of a unique artist, one in possession of a golden, honeyed voice and a manner at once noble and warmly emotive. The track listings alone reveal his singularity. Once past the obligatory "Nessun dorma" and "Vesti la giubba," you will find him in some of the many French speaking roles for which he is famous, and then, most exceptionally, in extended excerpts from 'Meistersinger' and 'Tannhäuser.' No other tenor covers so much ground with such command.

While some of these arias are taken from complete opera recordings, others are from recitals such as the 1980 San Francisco Opera Gala concert with Giulini, where Domingo, as always, seems to be rethinking details rather than rehashing.
