Notes and Editorial Reviews

Unforgettable arias sung by the most iconic diva of all time – remastered for the first time in high-definition sound from the original tapes, for an unprecedented sound quality that shines new light on the voice of Maria Callas. “With high definition, you’ll be able to experience sounds which have only been heard so far by people who were either present at Callas’s recording sessions, or who had access to the unique master tape … All we wanted to do is remove the specks of dust, as it were, and wipe the glass clean.” (Allan Ramsay, remastering engineer at Abbey Road Studios) Unforgettable arias sung by the most iconic diva of all time – remastered for the first time in high-definition sound from the original tapes, for an unprecedented sound quality that shines new light on the voice of Maria Callas. “With high definition, you’ll be able to experience sounds which have only been heard so far by people who were either present at Callas’s recording sessions, or who had access to the unique master tape … All we wanted to do is remove the specks of dust, as it were, and wipe the glass clean.” (Allan Ramsay, remastering engineer at Abbey Road Studios) Read less

Finally! March 9, 2017 By gwen t. (Culver City, CA) See All My Reviews "I love this collection! I have some of the same recordings of the complete operas, and I must say that I am so impressed and pleased by the new engineering. I had thought that it was too bad that the recording techniques and technology we have today was not available when the original recordings were made. The "new sound" is much clearer, and I must say it does not sound phony. You get all the drama of Callas's performances. Very enjoyable!" Report Abuse
