Magnificent Mendelssohn February 26, 2014 By Keith Francis (New York, NY) See All My Reviews "Mendelssohn added "con fuoco" to his tempo marking for the opening of his Octet and Heifetz and company are the fieriest I've ever heard. The music-making is tremendously exciting in the first movement and highly poetic in the second, although some may find the tempo a little on the fast side. The scherzo is a bit less ethereal than it might be, but the finale is a hugely enjoyable romp with every note in place in spite of the hair-raising speed." Report Abuse
