Franz Tunder (1614-1667) spent his career as treasurer and organist of the St. Marienkirche.; One of the most important members of the North German organ school, Tunder composed under the style of “Stylus Phantasticus,” which was characterized by translating the emotional content of the text into musical expression, creating dissonances, tone painting, and sudden harmonic changes.; Tunder is most known for his Chorale Preludes on Lutheran hymns, and several separate organ preludes. All of his works are featured on this two-disc set.
