Veni, Vidi, Verdi May 1, 2016 By G. Silko (Erie, PA) See All My Reviews "This is an absolutely stunning collection. It is about as complete a collection of Verdi's music as will ever be compiled. The recordings nearly all come from Polygram's vault with the exception of one EMI thrown in. Many of the operas are the best or second best recordings ever made (e.g. the Kleiber Traviata). The rarer operas include some of the only available performances and the alternate versions of I Lombardi (Jerusalem) and Don Carlo (Don Carlos) are also in the set. Two accompanying books include cast, tracks, and detailed track by track summaries but not full librettos. An absolute must for any opera fan and one of the best "Complete Works" collections currently available." Report Abuse
SUCH A DEAL! April 9, 2016 By A. Ames See All My Reviews "Naxos certainly couldn't outdo this set at this price, even if it had access to a recording of every Verdi opera! Although I have multiple sets of many of Verdi's operas (including many of those included here), I am buying the set because I can't imagine such a deal showing up anywhere else in my lifetime (I guess I probably have 12-20 years left). And i can dispose of any duplicates already on my shelves through either charity (give to a library) or greed (re-sell). Can't wait!" Report Abuse
