Notes and Editorial Reviews

REVEWS:
Fanfare (5-6/98, pp.205-6) - "...I find these performances of Symphonies Nos. 6 and 7, by a Finnish conductor and orchestra, to be the most persuasive I've heard....The recorded sound is fine, with a depth and definition to the orchestra that adds to the effectiveness..."
BBC Music (3/98, p.59) - Performance: 5 (out of 5), Sound: 5 (out of 5) -
"...the symphonies [of Vänskä's Sibelius cycle] come across with a
freshness, a vitality and dramatic and structural logic that few have
managed before....In all, a remarkable achievement."

This will have to do, unless the Minnesota Orchestra and Os finish their cycle. Vanska has a different and more authentic take on music of Sibelius than any other conductor I have heard (on recordings." Report Abuse
