Notes and Editorial Reviews

Since the Junge Deutsche Philharmonic was formed in 1974, it has become one of the most progressive, sought-after orchestras on the German orchestral scene. Comprised entirely of the best students from German conservatories, the orchestra has become known through its 25-year existence for its edgy repertoire that reveres 20th Century music in the same way that most symphony orchestras esteem Classical or Romantic repertoire.
This album offers an intriguing look into the orchestra's most prolific accomplishments of the past 25 years, highlighting its prestigious line of guest conductors, such as Christof Prick, Kyrill Kondrashin, Witold Lutoslawski, and its inventive interpretations of pieces by Igor Stravinsky, Peter Ronnefeld and Dmitri

Such a variety of composers and conductors allow the orchestra to show off its ability to adjust to the variety of tempos and difficult rhythmic patterns for which contemporary music is renowned. The selections on this historic album also give listeners a window into the depth of musical talent possessed by this generation of young artists.
