Notes and Editorial Reviews

Giulio Regondi (1822 - 1872) was an Italian classical guitarist, who also composed and played the concertina. He first drew attention in England as a child prodigy and had a career as an entertaining musician. His music is heard here in a modern recording by the Giulio Regondi Guild.

Review quotes of the period:

"There was also a novelty in the shape of an instrument called “a

The tones of this instrument are sweet and pleasing; but far more striking than the concertina itself were the feeling and ease with which it was played by that clever little boy Giulio Regondi, who executed several intricate passages with surprising facility and precision." - The Times, London, 26, April, 1837; pg. 5; Issue 16400
