Highly recommended. October 25, 2014 By RAYMOND F. (Belfast, NY) See All My Reviews "If you like Borodin's string quartets, this is the disk to get. If you already have another version, I would still recommend adding this one to your collection. Melodiya has done an excellent job of audio restoration, and this legendary performance by the original Borodin String Quartet sounds much better than the identical recording reproduced on the Chandos label or the alternate recording of the two pieces by the version of the Borodin String Quartet with Mikhail Kopelman and Andrei Abramenkov replacing Rostislav Dubinsky and Yaroslav Alexandrov on violin, available on the EMI label. I also recommend this disk over any of the recordings of these pieces by other string quartets that I have heard, although I still enjoy some of those. The audio quality of the three Praga SACDs of Borodin's chamber music is excellent and I am glad to have those in my collection, as well, but if I had to keep only one version of these two pieces, this would be the one."
