Notes and Editorial Reviews

For Plamena Mangova, 2007 will remain a red letter year. After achieving second place at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth piano competition, her first CD, recorded for Fuga Libera (Shostakovich, FUG517), was awarded, among other distinctions, with a Diapason d'Or 2007. We now present her second and much anticipated recital, devoted to Beethoven. The young Bulgarian musician has made a deep impression with her interpretation of Beethoven during the 'Concours Reine Elisabeth', showing total commitment and an exceptional range of colour. Revolving around the 'Appassionata' Sonata, which Beethoven might have written for her, the programme includes an irresistibly charming rarity - the Variations on 'La Stessa, Stessissima' - and his ultimate Read more masterpiece: the 'Bagatelles' op.126.
