Best Orchestral Performance of the Best of Bach! December 2, 2013 By David Busch (Greenville, RI) See All My Reviews "This is a recording and interpretation that strikes a perfect balance between the best of old school with the best of period performance practices and deserves the most special praise for Peter Schreier's own view of the score. The later didn't impress the authors of the Penguin Guide to Classical Music when it was first released. Other reviews are harder to come by but, make no mistake this is a Desert Island Recording!!! The highlights disc that was released from this whole set is remarkable from first note to the last but after hearing it you will insist on owning every single note made available. I've owned every well reviewed recording of the last 50 yrs. and this is my pick for the Highest Recommendation!" Report Abuse
