Notes and Editorial Reviews
Having explored the neglected repertoire of German overtures and the favorite
concertos of Mozart, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin transports us to
sunny Italy for a sumptuous program of Vivaldi’s concerti grossi and concertos
for one or two soloists. At this Venetian feast of music-making, virtuosity has
pride of place and the menu includes the Double Concertos RV 522 and 531,
the Concerti grossi RV 156 and 574, and the violin concerto RV 265 from
L’estro armonico (Op. 3 No. 12). Bon appétit!
