Notes and Editorial Reviews

There are discs aplenty coupling Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Piano Concerto, including, currently, three more which offer the punchier original jazzband version of the former. Marshall, however, is an almost ideal soloist in the Rhapsody – vivid and hard-hitting, but also lyrical when required – and Hickox and the CLS provide surprisingly stylish accompaniment...The Minnesotans’ Cuban Overture is an entertaining filler.
