One of the Best July 12, 2017 By Michael D. (Ypsilanti, MI) See All My Reviews "Au contraire, Levine's Eroica with his Met orchestra is about the best available. In the driven tradition of Toscanini the iconic first movement here is exciting and dynamic with sharp accents and thrilling climaxes. The finale is dynamic and lyrical, spiritually uplifting. Levine's performance is in the first rank of Eroicas along with Cluytens, Karajan and Bernstein." Report Abuse
Not the Best Available. September 1, 2012 By Richard Buckley (Oakmont, PA) See All My Reviews "Beethoven's 3rd Symphony happens to be my favorite piece of classical music. I bought this recording because I had heard rave reviews about Levine's work, but I am disappointed with this rendition of the 3rd. Both Bernstein and von Karajan have more masterful recordings of Eroica. Both are on DG. This isn't bad, but it can't compare with others out there." Report Abuse
