Since 1939, the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert has become a tradition and the world’s most famous classical music event. For the fifth time, world-renowned conductor Zubin Mehta returns to the podium for this extraordinary event. Maestro Mehta and the Vienna Philharmonic share a long history together. In 1961 he conducted his first concert with the orchestra and in 2001, after forty years of artistic collaboration as the orchestra’s longest-serving conductor, he was awarded an Honorary Membership in

2015 New Year's Day Vienna concert February 5, 2015
By Reginald Jones (Hamilton, VA) See All My Reviews
"Two CDs of wonderful music by members of the Strauss family, plus one by their northern counterpart, Hans Christian Lumbye. Super. Zubin Mehta leads with customary enthusiasm and the VPO shows why it is one of the greatest orchestras in the world. It's combined with a three CD bonus collection of excerpts from earlier concerts and a DVD, How all this can cost only $20, plus shiping, is amazing. Not to be missed!"
