One of the ClassicsJanuary 11, 2021By J. Tatnall (West Grove, PA)See All My Reviews"There are three classic recordings of La Gioconda all from the late 50s. This one from 1957 was Decca's issue and features a classic line up of fine Italian voices from top to bottom under a dynamic conductor. (The other two being the Milanov originally on RCA but recorded by Decca and later being on that label, and the second Callas from La Scala under Votto.) While any of the three are rewarding listening, this one has the most consistently excellent cast. Good early stereo sound."Report Abuse
