Notes and Editorial Reviews

"Previn gives a darkly intense performance of Egdon Heath. The rip-roaring ballet music from The Perfect Fool presents a colourful contrast."
-- Penguin Guide [2003-4]

"The Perfect Fool has never sounded so good. Egdon Heath comes off especially well in the higher resolution sound. The silences between the notes seem much deeper, the individual instruments so clear and real. The first time I played it, I had to hear it a second time straight through."

A Potpourri of Holst's Non-Planetary Works February 22, 2013 By R Beverly Raney (Brevard, NC) See All My Reviews "We bought this somewhat dated (Spars ADD) group of Holst works primarily for the Short Festival Te Deum, which our Episcopal Church Choir in Texas recently sang before Lent began -- it was enthusiastically received and unfamiliar to us, as were all the selections other than the St. Paul's Suite. In general we liked the entire CD, and it is not so expensive as some DDD recordings of this repertoire." Report Abuse
