Kuyper, Rediscovering a Dutch Master September 24, 2014 By R. Emmert See All My Reviews "Having heard the previous recordings on the FeminaeRecords label, I was excited to hear about this newest recording featuring the little known (actually to me unknown) composer Elisabeth Kuyper. This is clearly the most ambitious recording thus far of Aleksandra Maslovaric and it does not disappoint. The music is fresh and exciting and must have been deeply inspiring for the men and women who would have heard it first performed in the early 20th century. The fact that works such as these were then buried with time seems clearly to point to the struggles that women have had in performing and composing in the classical world. Ms. Maslovaric has rediscovered a composer whose works no doubt should have been prominent on the world stage since their inception and I hope this will be a major step in giving the composer the world recognition that she deserves. FeminaeRecords should be commended for taking on this endeavor and best wishes to them in digging up other deserving work." Report Abuse
