Fine work on little-known repertoire July 26, 2015 By William Craig (BROOMFIELD, CO) See All My Reviews "Casella is one of my favorite "unknown" composers, and his music is certainly worth getting to know. The fine Italian pianist Bruno Canino released Volume 1 of the complete piano works some years back, but it was never followed up. So this album is very welcome. d'Ambrosio plays with secure technique and a deep understanding for the music, and his performances are certainly the equal of Canino's excellent ones. A lot of interesting music here, including Casella's biggest piano work, "Sinfonia, Arioso, e Toccata", which I discovered and performed some years ago. Strongly recommended, and a good companion to Naxos' series of Casella's orchestral music." Report Abuse
