Notes and Editorial Reviews

With her light, bright silvery tone Salerno-Sonnenberg brings out the poetry of the two Saint-Saens concertante pieces, avoiding schmaltzy exaggeration. Far more than in the concerto, the playing gains from the slight distancing of the sound, and the Massenet brings the most poetic performance on the disc, marked by wonderfully hushed pianissimos.

-- Edward Greenfield, Gramophone [3/1990]

Sonnenberg the Magnificent February 9, 2013 By Henry Federman (Tillson , NY) See All My Reviews "Though Sonnenberg is a top violinist somehow I had trouble with the quality of the CD. Somehow the sound did not come through as I expected, I have a very good sound system but I was disappointed the way it came through. The low were too low, I could barely hear them unless I turned the sound very high." Report Abuse
What else to say? February 7, 2013 By N. Turner (Fleming Island, FL) See All My Reviews "A beautiful recording by a magnificent violinist of a masterful composition" Report Abuse
Brilliant Fiery Performance February 7, 2013 By P. Runge (Springfield, VA) See All My Reviews "Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg does it again. Each performance of hers wakes me up and as always gets my attention. I first heard her perform some years ago in Toranto, Canada and was astounded at her stage presence as well as her detailed articulation as a young performer. This has only gotten better over the years. WOW!" Report Abuse
