ANOTHER BOULEZ MASTERPIECE January 10, 2016 By Zita Carno (Tampa, FL) See All My Reviews "I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with Pierre Boulez when he guest conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic in music of his own and of other great composers of the 20th century. I would have loved to hear the three works that appear on this album, but all too regretfully he did not program them, so I must content myself with listening and enjoying them here. As a conductor he was clear, concise and with a thorough knowledge of the pieces, and one thing---I knew and worked with Jan DeGaetani many times when we were in conservatory together back in New York, and what a magnificent mezzo she was: too bad the Devil saw fit not to listen to her words of warning to stay away from the miller and his wife; look what happened to him! Having also played a good deal of harpsichord, I had the occasion to perform the concerto with several of my colleagues, and we all had a blast! Great, great, GREAT recording." Report Abuse
