A Musical Christmas Tree by Morton Gould January 5, 2014 By Jeff F. (Surprise, AZ) See All My Reviews "The reason I bought the CD, is the best and most interesting selection on it: the first piece, Adeste Fideles. It's not the ordinary "O Come all ye faithful", but, a fugal arrangement of this that makes what it would sound like if Bach had written it. I first heard this selection in 1974 when a local radio station broadcast it in Lima, Ohio. From then until recently, I could not find "A Musical Christmas Tree" album to purchase. When this re-release came out on CD on Arkivmusic, I was thrilled, at last, to find it. Some other Christmas selections on this CD are written in a polyphonic, contrapuntal style as well, but, the signature piece, in my opinion, is the unique arrangement of Adeste Fideles." Report Abuse
