Notes and Editorial Reviews

A nostalgic recollection yes, but it's unlikely you've heard a performance like this at an evening concert in the park. The virtuosic playing of this classic Canadian Brass recording has always been jaw-dropping, and it's a wonderful example of how these five players can deliver a sound that matches a symphonic band. The arrangements are ideal, and the playing is magnificent - a real treat. A nostalgic recollection yes, but it's unlikely you've heard a performance like this at an evening concert in the park.  A Tribute to a Tribute December 22, 2013 By Rich Cardo See All My Reviews "If you never were a musician who played in a community band/village band, you may not get it. These community bands are more resposible for bringing a wealth of music to crowds than anyone. This homage to them is incredibly put together, in it's selection of representative music. From the flashy Flight of the Bumblebee (I love this version, as opposed to the other Canadian Brass arrangements of Flight) to the beautiful operatic transcriptions. With, of course, all the patriotic arrangements, the execution of these works is truly unparalleled. In my estimation, one of the top two of the Canadian Brass recordings, the other being the Pachelbel Canon and other Baroque etc." Report Abuse
