A classic! July 20, 2013 By Henry S. (Springfield, VA) See All My Reviews "This powerful recording comes from the 1962 Bayreuth Festival and is directed by one of the legendary Wagner interpreters of the mid-20th century. An all-star cast gives this complex musical drama a searing sense of aesthetic purpose, even approaching religious ferver in Act 3 as Parsifal returns to Montsalvat to redeem himself. Now over 50 years old, the recording suffers very little in terms of audio quality, and the sheer beauty of the singing, the excellence of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and Chorus, and above all Hans Knappertsbusch's sure-handed and loving touch at the controls surely make this recording one to own and cherish. Strong recommendations!" Report Abuse
