Notes and Editorial Reviews
It is a perception by now I hope widely shared that Stephen Hough is a great pianist, one of the finest now before the public. Until now I had never heard him play Brahms, but I expected something special, and the disc does not disappoint. These are deeply pondered, brilliantly executed, and often ravishingly beautiful performances, and Andrew Keener has produced his customary luminous and finely focused sound for Hyperion.
