Notes and Editorial Reviews
German composer Max Reger (1873-1916) was a professional organist, and composed a great wealth of small scale and grand scale works for this instrument. His 6 Choral Phantasias are based on well known chorale melodies (Ein fest Burg ist unser Gott, Freu'dich sehr, Wie schňn leucht uns der Morgenster, Straf mich nicht in deinen Zorn, Alle Menschen mussen sterben, Wachet auf ruft uns die Stimme, Hallelujah Gott zu loben). Played on great romantic organs pefectly suited for these complex works, the organ of the Grote Kerk Breda and the Stevenkerk in Nijmegen, in the Netherlands. The booklet contains information on the organs, and offers a description of the works.
