Still the Best July 3, 2012 By P. Webb (St. Louis, MO) See All My Reviews "I have had this recording for a number of years. In fact, I had hooped that RCA would release it on CD and was elated to find that it finally had. This is the finest Lohengrin recorded. The cast is absolutely superb. Don't know much about Sandor Konja but he is the only Lohengrin for me as well as Lucine Amara as Elsa. Can't say enough about this cast and Leinsdorf. I hope it never falls out of the catelogues."  Magnificent opera April 5, 2012 By Michel M. (Chateauguay, Quebec) See All My Reviews "I am no Wagnerian but I have to admit that Lohengrin is a truly magnificent work blending grandeur and intimate passages of exquisite beauty. Sandor Konya is splendid in the title-role and the rest of the cast excellent. Leinsdorf often accused of being rigid and insensitive leads a genial performance. Great atmospheric sound.  Perfect Triangle December 13, 2011 By robert jones (scott depot, WV) See All My Reviews "Simply the most satisfying as to balanced presentation of the soloists, chorus, and orchestral splendors of Lohengrin. Symphony Hall and its orchestra are ready made for this opera. Its Lohengrin to be sure, but a magnificent sound doesn't hurt it a bit." Report Abuse
