Terrific CD of the Great American Songbook select June 26, 2014 By Karin R C. (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) See All My Reviews "I am a classically trained pianist who loves the American Songbook and Musicals. I am always looking for great arrangements and performances of these works. I feel very lucky to have found this great CD of Richard Glazier performing different arrangements of wonderful selections from the Great American Songbook. The exceptional arrangements by Samuel Sorensen for Scene D'Amour, Drifting, and So In Love are extremely well written and Richard Glazier performed them very beautifully and with ease. The uplifting My Fair Lady medley (Love these songs!)sound like the orchestral version taken to the piano. I also really enjoy the arrangement of My Funny Valentine, one of my favorite songs. I love the intimate Bill Charlap arrangement of Soon, as well as An Affair to Remember - such a haunting song. There are so many great song arrangements and performed exquisitely. I have listened to this CD repeatedly since I have received it. Thank you for a such a wonderful performance of some of my favorite songs! Looking forward to your next CD!" Report Abuse
If You Love the Piano You'll Love This June 8, 2014 By L. Hoffman (Land O Lakes, FL) See All My Reviews "It's hard to explain just how precious this collection is. What you have here is a virtuoso pianist (Richard Glazier) totally committed to the music he loves. I'm certain that great effort must have gone into finding the arrangements presented here, all so that we, the listener, can feel the same passion for the music that the performer does. It's difficult to single out one or two of the tracks without implying that they might be better than the others (they're not), but track #9, Street Scene (Arr. by D. Savino) constantly plays in my mind, and track #2 Scene D'Amour from VERTIGO (Arr. by S. Sorensen) is reminiscent of the Liszt arrangement of Isolde's Liebestod. This is a perfect collection. Please do yourself a favor and listen to this music. You'll never regret it." Report Abuse
