They make very sweet music together — better than most established quartets. Their playing is smooth and polished, and they set all the traditional carols forth in all their purity and simplicity. Musical taste and spirituality meet here. ‘It Came Upon a Midnight Clear’ sounds like a movement from a late Schubert quartet. Many another sounds like it was written for these four instruments. Almost all the tunes are familiar and much-loved, and none are "messed with" (i.e., given sophisticated arrangements). … A beautiful Christmas gift for chamber music lovers. -
