Notes and Editorial Reviews

The first solo album in four years by one of the classical world’s biggest stars reveals a voice which has become richer, rounder and more mellow; the choice of repertoire draws further new colors from the ever-stylish tenor, Juan Diego Florez.

Marking a departure for the Peruvian bel canto superstar, this new recording offers a personal survey of the French operatic repertoire from Donizetti to the romantic outpourings of Gounod and Massenet, including Massenet’s ‘Pourquoi me Reveiller’ from Werther.

This is a disc that not only plays to Florez’s strengths – virtuosic and high-lying – but also shows a new side to the popular singer, featuring repertoire which he has rarely sung on stage.

Exquisite Tasteful Singing May 15, 2014 By Robert E. (New York, NY) See All My Reviews "I continue to be delighted and amazed by this artist's vocalism. I'm at a loss to find the superlatives to describe the thrill I receive upon each listening." Report Abuse
Another triumph ! May 12, 2014 By Joseph  Erdeljac (West Chester, PA) See All My Reviews "Florez, being one of the top ranking singers of our day delivers yet another breathtaking performance of selected arias. In top voice as usual the only thing one will notice is that he has stepped into a more dramatic repertory for this disc. His tone and deliver and interpretation are all wonderful as usual. The only small drawback that I found is that his effort to show his dramatic side is just a bit pushed on some of his climactic high notes. Still, all in all, this is another great choice to add to your Florez collection." Report Abuse
