Altogether Outstanding April 22, 2014 By Henry S. (Springfield, VA) See All My Reviews "Volume 1 was recorded in 1998, and this one, Volume 2 has a recording date of 1997, so logic might suggest that this one should be the first in the Naxos series. No matter- it's great stuff. In this case, the orchestra is the London Sinfonietta, which does a fine job with sprightly, melodious works full of good cheer and an extrovert character. The sound quality of the CD is superb, with the Londoners proving their merit as a top tier chamber orchestra. In short, this is great music, so don't hesitate on this one if you enjoy music from the third quarter of the 18th century. Recommended." Report Abuse
Great stuff August 29, 2013 By Richard H. (Glendale, AZ) See All My Reviews "I have all three volumes of the Vanhal symphonies and they are all great listening. There's something about the busyness of the classical symphony that I really enjoy. If you enjoy the genre half as much as I do then you shouldn't pass these up." Report Abuse
