Popper's PopsDecember 21, 2017By Benjamin I. See All My Reviews"I will never understand why these works are nearly never heard in concert. The three cellists on this recording (the prolific Martin Rummel and his German colleague Alexander Hülshoff mainly, plus Bertin Christelbauer for the "Requiem") do a fabulous job advocating for this music, with immaculate intonation and audible joy in the music. This recording is a must for everybody who loves the cello and those who like 19th century Romantic string music. I particularly love the Waltz Suite and the slightly over-the-top Suite for two cellos, which I have never heard played better than on this disc."Report Abuse
