This compilation is one of several special issues designed to celebrate not only the 25th anniversary of the King?s Consort, but also of Hyperion Records, who of course have a long association with the Consort. As most readers will be aware, Hyperion?s festivities were somewhat overshadowed by the incongruous (to many people) findings of a court case that has resulted in severe financial problems. So here?s a good, cheap way to support a company that has immeasurably enriched the collections of legions of record buyers over a quarter of a century. Robert King?s vibrant Handel performances are now sufficiently familiar to require no further comment here. Suffice it to say that while they might not always be the best available, a dip anywhere into this generous selection quickly reveals they are never less than of high quality. Full details of the original issues are included, which means you may well end up incurring extra expense. But that?s no excuse. If you haven?t already done so, buy a copy now , and show Hyperion that we all care about its future!
