Notes and Editorial Reviews

“This CD has been carefully planned and executed so as to show young Daniel at his best, playing repertoire that suits him at this stage of his life. “Scènes d’enfants” is the title of the album: Scenes from Childhood, after the Schumann piano work by the same name. Though all the pieces chosen are youthful in spirit, it does not mean they are intended to be played by students. On the contrary, some of them are very difficult indeed. Daniel understands this music, and he is more than equal to every technical challenge.” – La Scena Musicale “This CD has been carefully planned and executed so as to show young Daniel at his best, playing repertoire that suits him at this stage of his life. “Scènes d’enfants” is the title of the album: Scenes from Childhood, after the Schumann piano work by the same name.  Fluid and accomplished playing May 27, 2014 By P. Kidd (Victoria, BC) See All My Reviews "I have a marked preference for early music played by ensembles: I could count on one hand the number of piano discs I have in my collection. This is now at the top of the selection, to be replayed many, many times. A Youtube video led me to this remarkable young man, and my musical life is the richer for it. This disc is a soupçon of his talent, I think, but a delightful mix of the serious and the relaxed. It is undemanding and endlessly charming. I rather wish it had been produced as a DVD because I find it enthralling to watch his fingers move with such dexterity and speed over the keys. He makes it look so easy, and I know from experience how very difficult it is. Watching and listening to this amazing (in many respects, not just his keyboard talents) 'boy', you know immediately that he was born with the music in him----his performances are simply a conduit of his heart. I will buy whatever he plays, and highly recommend this performance." Report Abuse
