Notes and Editorial Reviews

Among the most exciting classical musicians of our time, Alison Balsom was first inspired by Dizzy Gillespie to become a virtuosic trumpet soloist.

'I've spent my whole life trying to show how versatile the trumpet can be,' she says. 'It's only limited by your imagination.' In this selection from her award-winning albums, she plays gems from the Baroque repertoire on both natural and valved instruments.

I love this CD! March 2, 2014 By Jill S. See All My Reviews "I first heard selections from this Alison Balsom CD on the classical radio station I listen to every day. I had never before heard her play the trumpet, and fell in love with the sound of her music. I purchased this CD so I could listen to her music whenever I wished, at home or in my car. My pet canary and finches also love listening to her play." Report Abuse
Trumpeter Extrodinaire December 31, 2013 By Kenneth W A. (WOODEND, Victoria) See All My Reviews "Anyone looking for a recording of the trumpet in its purest form need look no further. This is without a doubt the finest recording released to date of an artist who has complete mastery of her instrument, the notes are clear and crisp with none of the slurring of notes that some artists are apt to do. She has stepped outside of convention and displayed the virtuosity of a true artist by embarking upon music that is not traditionally for the trumpet. I have no hesitation in recommending this disc to not only the lovers of the trumpet but also to those who have found this instrument for the first time." Report Abuse
