Notes and Editorial Reviews

The soprano Diana Damrau stars in the operas of Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti and Strauss, but Forever is the ‘soundtrack of her life’ in the form of much-loved numbers from operetta, musicals and the movies – including Die Fledermaus, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera and The Little Mermaid. “This music shows a side of me that many people don’t know yet,” she says. “These tunes are great art, because they are associated with unforgettable moments in everyone’s lives.” The soprano Diana Damrau stars in the operas of Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti and Strauss, but Forever is the ‘soundtrack of her life’ in the form of much-loved numbers from operetta, musicals and the movies – including Die Fledermaus, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera and The Little Mermaid. “This music shows a side of me that many people don’t know yet,” she says. “These tunes are great art, because they are associated with unforgettable moments in everyone’s lives.” Read less

Great songs and a great singer April 24, 2015 By John S. (Castlemaine, Victoria) See All My Reviews "This is a delightful selection of songs that constitute Ms. Damrau' favourites and songs that have special meaning for her in her career; two songs from My fair Lady for instance, sung with great verve and fun. It includes many pieces from operetta and Broadway, with a beautifully straight forward version of " Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins in impeccable English, and a duet with Rolando Villazon. Her voice is sensually beautiful and pure with top notes to dream about, and adapts easily to the different tessitura of her choices without self consciousness or vocal manipulation, showing that great songs need only a great singer."
