Reissue of a Christmas Classic January 10, 2014 By V. Rufino (Succasunna, NJ) See All My Reviews "The high school I taught at in 1970 owned this album(on vinyl of course), and it was always a joy to hear. The Westminster Chorus is only on the final track (Hallelujah Chorus), and as a long time choral director, it is interesting to hear the original "Westminster Sound" under Dr. Williamson. However, that sound has changed since the tenure of Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt and Dr. Joe Miller, the present director. Most of the tracks are with the Tabernacle Choir and the NY Philharmonic. Many will argue that the NYP never sounded better than when they played under the direction of Bernstein, who was in his prime when this recording was made. I am grateful that this has been digitally reissued. You will not be disappointed with this CD." Report Abuse
My kind of Christmas morning music January 10, 2014 By Veronica L. (Springboro, OH) See All My Reviews "I love this album. It is the perfect background for Christmas morning. The symphonic and chorale treatment of carols suits my classical sensibilities perfectly. Not too "heavy" and thankfully, not too "light", either." Report Abuse
A Best Holiday Tradition December 15, 2011 By Patrick B. (Leesburg, VA) See All My Reviews "Leonard Bernstein provides a really great presentation of holiday spirit. I cannot recommend this recording enough!" Report Abuse
