Jon Deak's experiences with music closely relate to his love of the outdoors. This CRI release features organic music that often takes root with Deak's reflection of nature and our role within it. These are all dramatic works for narrating instrumentalists that peak into a unique side of dramatic storytelling.
'The Wager at the El Dorado Saloon' begins by telling a triumphant story through its use of narrative, dark string pizzicatos, screeching violins, and honky-tonk piano riffs. Read more creepy, abstract harmonies are delivered on top of Hesse's brooding prose. 'Metaphor' was inspired by Willa Cather's 'My Antonia,' describing a typical day on the Nebraska prairie. It blends nicely subtle narrative with soft, idle sounds of the mid-west, magically portraying the mind and spirit of a young boy. The deranged 'Greetings from 1984' tells of George Orwell's vision of a totalitarian society.
Performed by the Trio Pacifica, THE CALL OF THE WILD is a unique listening experience. It incorporates the whimsical antics of a musician compelled to create works influenced by the performance art world. Full of unexpected twists and turns, it is sure to entertain and show the many talents of these creative musicians.
