Enno Voorhorst writes about this disc: "In 1925, Ponce left Mexico with the aim of gaining more in-depth knowledge of impressionism, a style he had had a preference for for a long time. He quit his job as a professor at the National Conservatory in order to study with Paul Dukas in Paris, where, incidentally, he wrote most of his guitar works. This CD mainly represents his impressionistic and folkloristic works. Along with his guitar concerto, his chamber music works with guitar belong to Ponce's best works. They have all been recorded with the exception of the vocal works. The preparation process for this recording has made my admiration for Ponce even greater.
