For this new recording with piano, I turned to genre pieces, Romantic in style, written by Slavonic composers. The title Slavonic Spirit came to me instinctively. Since the trumpet is for me an extension of the voice, vocal phrasing is one of my sources of inspiration. The Slavonic works presented here - sometimes virtuosic, sometimes lyrical - fascinated me immediately; I feel very close to them. The programme includes original works for trumpet, written by composers who are not well known to the general public, and also arrangements of popular works, ones that everyone must have heard at some time or another.
