Notes and Editorial Reviews

Neeme Järvi’s complete recording is quite idiomatic, marked by a good feel for pacing and color, and excellent contributions from the soloists – including, in Knut Buen, a real Hardangar fiddler for the right folkloric touch. This account is melodramatic in the good sense, particularly in the confrontation with the Boyg. The sound is excellent; the only drawback is that the recording takes up two discs. – Ted Libbey, author of The NPR Guide to Building a Classical CD Collection.
